Too often, I see people ask for TOO MUCH, especially in real estate. Homes that are listed at $200,00, buyers come in with an UNREASONABLE negotiation. They ask for far more than what they should receive.
What happens when you OVER Negotiate? Do you understand what that means? It means you are asking for too much. You have asked for so much that the other person is willing to help you. You have now lost their support. You have made them angry. What is worse, is that you have gotten them emotional.
This happens to me all the time. When someone has asked so much from me, I become unwilling to help them. I am no longer looking for a win win.
It is very dangerous to ask for too much. Skilled negotiators know how to ask for just enough to make themselves happy and the other person to give it away. Whenever you are ought negotiating, think about over negotiating.
