Do you see the guy right next to me here?
Bill Taylor, Fighter for Life, with GoodTimeTommy
He is Bill Taylor, the owner of Bill Taylor’s Bushido School of Karate and a fighter for life. He is a former prize fighter and has owned a karate studio in Murfreesboro, TN for four decades now.
Transforming Lives for Generations
Mr. Taylor has been transforming and changing people’s lives ever since he started his dojo. Today, he was along side me on the Morning Grind, my daily Facebook Live show. I wanted to really learn that one thing that has made Bill Taylor so special when he was a fighter in business.
You see, whenever you walk into his studio, you would be amazed at how finely tuned the operation runs. From the systems, to the procedures, to the discipline, it is an amazing experience. It will grab your attention. You will walk away from his studio and want to put it into practice in your business and daily life.
Discipline, Systems, Procedures
I want to have that same kind of discipline. I want to have that same kind of structure. So I had asked Bill Taylor what the one thing that he believes is special. He talked about a particular fight that was his BIG moment. He was on ESPN, and back in the day this was a big moment, and he trained for months and months and months. He owned his studio here in town, so he was really needing a WIN.
Bill went into the fight but got injured early on. He never gave up. He kept fighting, he kept pushing. He did not show his opponent that he was injured. However, he lost the fight. Mr. Taylor was humiliated. He was worried. He was concerned that people would think he was a failure. The exact opposite happened.
Fighter for Life
People admired his resilience. Some people called it heart. They saw how hard he kept fighting and how he never gave up.
In life, we are faced with challenges every single day. We are fighters for life. We are in the ring every day with competitors knocking us down.
The question is this. It’s not how often you get knocked down but how much can you keep withstanding. How many times can you keep getting up? How many times can you answer the bell? Even when it hurts. Even when you don’t want to.
I believe, like Mr. Bill Taylor, we need to become a more resilient human. We need to be able to fight through our emotions. Emotional toughness is something you can build. It starts with never giving up.
